Early Beginnings: In May 1964, Reverend J.B. Carter, Sr., Pastor of the National Revival Center, sensed a divine calling back to evangelistic work. Seeking guidance for the church's future, he approached Bishop Jerry Skelton to assume leadership. Though initially unsure, Bishop Skelton accepted the call and began pastoring the congregation—then located in a former movie theatre on S. Ervay Street and known as Ervay Street Temple.

Growth and Relocation: As the church grew, it relocated to Ewing Street and became Victory Temple. Later, in its permanent home at 2543 E. Ledbetter Drive, Bishop Skelton renamed the congregation Fountain of the Living Word, expressing his deep love for Scripture and commitment to teaching the Word of God.

Legacy and Influence: Bishop Skelton faithfully served the Dallas congregation for 57 years. Under his leadership, countless lives were transformed, and at least a dozen churches across the country are pastored by individuals saved, filled with the Holy Ghost, or trained under his ministry. His influence continues through pastors, evangelists, and ministers he mentored.

Continuing the Mission: After Bishop Skelton’s passing on December 29, 2021, his son Jerry (J) Skelton, Jr., together with Sheila Skelton, stepped into the role of Senior Pastors. In May 2025, Cedric Smith, Sr. and his spouse, Sarah, were appointed Assistant and Interim Pastors— continuing the church’s mission of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ with love, faithfulness, and spiritual fervor.

Our mission is to have a dynamic impact on the community by introducing the lost to Jesus Christ. We provide opportunities for the Body of Christ to grow spiritually and intellectually through Sunday School, Bible Study, Revivals, and personal guidance. We teach, train, and equip men and women for the five-fold ministry—sending forth Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, and Missionaries into cities, nations, and the world to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
